"Alarm in memory" troubleshooting

(1/1)

geoffwba:
I have just re-configured all the zones associated with my Powermax + and re-enrolled all my PIR detectors. Two of the detectors are set for "Interior Zone" so that they will not trigger an alarm when the system is armed Home.   However after disarming the panel keeps reporting these as "alarm in memory" and the trouble light comes on.  I cannot then immediately re-alarm the system.  How do I get rid of these messages- is it a question of deleting the PIRs and re-enrolling them. Or should I just reset the panel to factory default and start from scratch?  Also, I cannot delete the entry log despite following the manual's instructions and using an installer code.

twisted:
1. if you can't ARM then one of you zones is violated (alarmed).  You have to clear it first.

2. ARMing clears the alarm-in-memory.  TROUBLE does not interfere with ARMing.

3. TROUBLE-light indicates trouble.  Review the event log, determine the trouble and clear it.  Usually something like battery or supervision.

4. If a PIR is failed then it may constantly say it is violated.  Re-enrolling would not help.  It's a rare problem but it does happen.

5. Follow the flowchart - "CLEAR EVENT LOG" then "OK" then "OFF" to delete.  Why clear the log anyway - more useful to keep it always.

I now seem to be getting "Alarm in memory" at random times on all my PIR's (I  have four of them). One reported low battery which I have replaced. All have now had new batteries in recent weeks. They can't all have failed!   I keep deleting them and re-enrolling but still the problem persists.   If I reset to factory default will the panel keep my user and installer codes?

Havine reviewed the log, I have found that my system is now reporting Panic alarm frequently even though I haven't initiated a panic and is still reporting low battery on various PIRs even though all have recently been renewed.  It is even still reporting one PIR as Alarm in memory even though I have deleted the PIR and taken its battery out!   I think the only thing I can do is a complete factory reset and start afresh.   I am still wondering about the installer code after reset- does it keep the one I have input or does ir revert to the one in the manual?

The only thing that clears Alarm-in-Memory is 1. ARM  or 2. panel-reset .

I recently replaced my first sensor battery after 3.5 years.  The low-battery for that sensor did not clear in the panel until some 1-6 hours after the replacement.  Maybe it cleared at the supervision interval, but it was automatic.

Note the panel time must be set after panel-reset.  If you are not careful about the time then you can not trust the event log time when the alarm really came in.

Keep it simple.  Clear/reset the panel.  Set the time.  Make sure the event log is cleared.  Only add one previously-troublesome sensor.  Does it test correctly? Yes?  Then proceed with the next.  No?  Then fix it, perhaps replace it.  Review the event log after each alarm or sensor-addition.  Do not add keyfobs or anything else until your system is stable.

If you still have a bunch of alarms after the above single sensor then post the event log last 20 events.

Keeping codes or not - I do not know.  That is a 10-second-problem to solve on site.  You can post followup when you have this answer.

So this is an older system, how old?
