How to upload a new list of user codes to GEM-P9600 ?

(1/2) > >>

JE:
Hey all, I'm a technician for the campus police department at a medium sized university.

One my duties is to change the security codes for the alarms that monitor keyboxes at the residence halls. I currently do this by entering new codes through the Gemini key pad.

There are a dozen halls, and I currently have to change a couple of dozen codes at each one at the start of each semester.

Is there a way that I could 'upload' these code changes directly to the system so that I don't have to punch all those dang buttons? And - even better yet - is there a way I could 'dial in' to these systems so that I could upload the changes from my office instead of having to go to each system?

Thanks!
JE

JE:
Is this the sort of thing that Quickloader could do?

JE:
I'm starting to get a mental picture ... if I have a computer with Quickloader on it and a PCI-Mini (DB 9 style) and some six connector cabling, I should be able to do this, right?

Also, I have a connector as described - DB9 female on one end, six conductor plug on the other - that was used to download data from an automatic defibrilator.

Anyone have any idea if this will work?

Magnum Alert:
Yes, Quickloader will work, but you need the actual PCI-Mini adaptor, as it's proprietary.  Very simple to do with that.

JE:
Yeah, just got back from trying that straight-through connector on a panel we are planning on de-installing next week so if it fried the board, no harm done.

The board still works, but I was unable to make any communications connections.

So can I buy the adapter directly from Napco?
