Troubleshooting X-10 for Vista Panels
(1/1)
Mikealarm:
TESTING 4300/ X-10 Operation
To check for proper SYNC
A. Disconnect the SYNC wire from the 4300.
B. Measure DC voltage from the panel signal ground to the panel sync wire.
This should read around +13VDC . (anything close is OK)
C. Reconnect the SYNC wire to the 4300.
D. Measure DC voltage between the SYNC and SIGNAL GND.
This should read about +8VDC (or half of the first reading).
To check DATA being sent:
A. Measure DC voltage between the SIGNAL GND and DATA.
With NO commands being sent this should read 0VDC (or very close to it).
B. With meter still connected send a command.
The voltage should quickly pulse (+).
***An analog meter might be better than a digital to see these pulses.
If X-10's are intermittent they may be on the wrong AC phase, and you need to get a phase coupler for the house, if you have 220 you can plug the coupler into that outlet and the signal will be sent to both phases.
