How do you protect the DVR unit?

(1/1)

Hey Folks-
First post here.  Having had my house robbed yesterday, I'm not looking to install a camera system with DVR.  The guys who did my house were pros, drilling out our locks to get in and doing a very clean job.  My question is, in the event this were to happen again, how do you protect your DVR such that it isn't stolen or tampered with?  Thanks for the help.

Either lock it down really good (like in a safe) or hide it.

My company is a dealer for Ozvision. If you are interested you can probally ask them for a list of dealers in your area. Basically camera video is streamed over the internet to a secure server.

Many of the DVRs you get nowadays can be viewed over the internet, and you have the option to record the footage viewed over the network to the local computer.

Obviously this would be hard on a system hard drive, so you'd want a little RAID array (several hard drives configured to back each other up so if one dies the others take over) - this way you'd have offsite storage.

Provided you have a decent internet connection both ends (and no or high caps on use) it wouldn't be too expensive.

Do you have an alarm system that's monitored? That's your first line of defence of course. Keep the DVR in a locked windowless area (with good ventilation) and cover that room/area with your alarm system.
