Is the normal phone line connection for a NX8-v2 for an analog line or a digital line?  Is it possible to change this?

When you say digital line are you referring to a naked ADSL line ?  The lines themselves are the same, it is the equipment at either end that matters. To answer your question they will work on any line that a normal phone or fax will work on.

Do you mean DTMF (digital ) or pulse (analogue) ?
Or by digital do you mean IP phones , DSL - as "the toss" already mentioned ?

I know it is DTMF I was referring to the type of service for use on a VOIP telephone line.  For some further reading it seemed like I need to use a special filter?

Any VOIP line most likely be fine, though, some companies line quality is subpar and could cause problems.

The filter you probably talking about is a DSL filter.  You should only be concerned about that if your internet service is DSL.
