I have an NX-8E and a NX-8V2 panel that I have set up with wireless devices throughout the building.  Now I would like to add a door switch to a cabinet so that anytime the door is opened it will send an alarm.  Is something like this possible?

Thanks

There are a couple of things you can do. If you only want local notification when the door is opened then set it up as a chime zone. Uf you actually want it to be alarmed as in setting off sirens & sending reports etc then set the panel up to arm in stay & away modes.
Away mode everything is armed & stay mode only the door in question is armed.

What I am really looking for is something that will close one of the aux contacts for this one door being opened.

I installed the system with building intrusion in mind but after the fact I am being asked to secure a 24"x24" junction box. The box needs to be secure all the time with entry to the box alarmed back to my plant system via the aux contact. I have the same set up for the normal every day usage alarming my plant system. I just need to set one single zone to activate the contact would also be nice to set a specific code for it to be disarmed if the box did need to be accessed down the road. Hope that is a bit clearer than my first post.

Thanks for the reply

Could you not set the zone type (not sure of locations for wireless) to type #7 (Silent 24 hour with no keypad notification) or type #10 (Silent 24 hour with keypad notification) and the set the Auxiliary Output #, Event and Time to type #2 (24 hour alarm) (locations 47-50.  Segments #1 for the type and Segment #2 for the output delay in minutes after the event takes place (0 = instant after event)).

Type #7 and #10 alarms are always on regardless of armed state of the system.

Also, is the NX-8 not a partitioned system? How about setting this zone on a separate partition, then log on to that partition and disarm when needed.

I have all the answers . . . some of them are correct.

Hi Brian,
The on-board AUX (1 to 4) outputs - relays 1 & 2 included - can not be directly associated with zones but only partitions. The NX-507/508 output/relay modules can do what you are looking for.

Other than that, I think Static's option would be the best for you.                             Create a second partition with only the zone you want and that's it. Then you can configure the behaviour of this zone/partition exactly the way you want it ( including an AUX 1 and/or 2 relay) without affecting the configuration of your existing main partition.

Hope this helps
