Cameras for Visonic PowerLink

Hello and thanks in advance for reading/replying to this post.  I am doing background research to install a new security system and video monitoring.  I really like the idea of having the intrusion detection and video monitoring brought together into one system.  Of course there are several options to do this (Honeywell Total Connect, Alarm.com's Interactive Monitoring, etc.) but it usually ends up costing $$ per month to have one place to login and view the alarm and video information.

This brings me to the Visonic Powermax Pro with GSM and PowerLink.  It seems that using PowerLink allows for video cameras to be integrated into the online portal where alarm info can be viewed/set/etc.

The PowerLink specifications list the following cameras being compatible with the system:
o Visonic CAM1000 - RS-485
o Visonic CAM2000 - Ethernet
o Visonic CAM2000WL - WiFi / Ethernet
o Visonic CAM3100 - WiFi / Ethernet / IR / 60 degrees FOV
o Visonic CAM3200 - WiFi / Ethernet / Pan Tilt / IR / 60 degrees FOV
o Vivotek IP7135 - Network Camera
o Vivotek IP7137 - WLAN Network Camera
o Vivotek PT7135 – Pan / Tilt Network Camera
o Vivotek PT7137 – Pan / Tilt WLAN Network Camera
o Vivotek FD7131 – Indoor Dome with While LED
o Vivotek FD6112V / FD6122V – Fixed Dome Network Camera
o Vivotek VS2101 – MJPG Video Server

From what I can tell, all of these are CMOS cameras (poor quality) except for the Vivotek FD6112V / FD6122V.

I'd prefer to use a less expensive camera that is higher quality than CMOS.  Has anyone had any luck using any cameras (other than the ones listed above) with the Visonic PowerLink?

Also, how does motion detection work with these cameras and PowerLink?  Does it only start recording if there is a system event on the alarm?

The Visonic cameras look just like Trendnet cameras.  Visonic probably just rebrands them.  Does anyone know if Trendnet cameras will work with the Powerlink system?
