ADEMCO 6150RF keypad vs 5881 ENM wireless
« on: March 12, 2007, 11:24:33 PM »

What is the difference between using an
ademco  6150RF keypad verses  a 5881 ENM wireless,
with either a ademco 15p or 20p control

Is one better, or stronger  more powerful?
Do they use the same wireless sensors?
What are your thoughts.....

THANKS

The 6150RF and 5881ENM are very similar.  Both are 16 zone receivers, both are for use with 5800 series ademco equipment.  The 6150Rf receiver is built into the keypad so you obviously get a keypad out of the deal, but it is more expensive.  The range of either would be good for a residential application.  The downside is that if the keypad in the 6150RF goes bad, you lose the receiver also.  It does not matter v15p or v20p, same deal.

Normally my company uses a 5881enl receiver for applications up to 8 wireless zones, and we use a 6150rf for new installs for 9-16 zones.  If we are expanding on a system and we need 9-16 wireless zones, we use the 5881enm.

6150RF keypad also has a built in relay that you can use to open and close your garage door from one of the wireless keyfobs.

i would go with the 6150rf without a doubt.  UNLESS you are afraid of rf interference.  What are you going to use it for? keyfobs or contacts or what?  With the 5881 you would also need a 5800tm module for bidirectional.

The 6150RF provides you with a 5881M receiver (16 zones), 5800TM for BD devices and a single NO relay contact for garage door activation as well as a standard fixed word console. This is a great product versus the price point if you want a all in one solution for wireless. For the average sized house this will do the job with no problems.....

The only advantage of using the 5881M over the 6150RF is that you can mount the rec'r in a more central location to get better coverage for your wireless devices.
